What is the purpose of this document?

EPAM Systems Inc. and its affiliates (“EPAM”, “we”) are committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal information.

This privacy policy describes our practices concerning your personal data that we process when we provide you with the services available through our MakerTime application.

The kind of information we hold about you

The personal data in relation to the functionality of MakerTime is stored on your local workstation to which EPAM does not have any access.

As a result, MakerTime may collect, store, and use the following categories of personal data about you on your local workstation:

  • At the time MakerTime is recording working activities it receives from your use of any active websites in your working environment active browsers, such as platform type, website domain, date and time spent on the website, incl. time stamp;
  • At the time MakerTime is recording working activities it receives from your use of active applications where software is installed including platform type, application name, application identifier if applicable, date, and time of usage, incl. time stamp;
  • Tracking of programming source code created, time when it was contributed, and what technologies were used.

How is your personal data collected?

MakerTime collects personal data about users from:

  • Directly from you, when MakerTime is installed on your workstation and it collects the data from you while working in the background.

How we will use information about you?

MakerTime may use your personal information for the following purposes:

  • To allow you to set up, and use MakerTime to get personal dashboard of working habits and time telemetry;
  • For feature analytics and enhancement:
    • Understanding and suggestions in relation to your working habits and focus productivity;
    • Understanding and suggestions in relation to your work-life balance;
    • Understanding patterns of applications used by specialists in their roles and functions;
  • To create skill profile by analyzing source code and time spent on contributing it;
  • Understanding user traffic and behavior on our website (using Amplitude).

Data sharing

As the personal data is stored locally, EPAM does not have any personal data that will be shared with third parties. Analytical data is collected and shared with Amplitude, however, such data is anonymized and therefore no personal data that can be traced back to you.

All data is stored locally on user workstation in encrypted database and only Amplitude analytics from MakerTime and the website are collected and sent to Amplitude. This data of Amplitude analytics contains user events, such as: name of the event, app version, name of the operation system (OS), time, fake machine identification and fake user identification.

Data security

As EPAM does not store any personal data it has no control over how the personal data is secured on your workstation.

Data retention

Please note that the user data itself is stored locally on your workstation. All data gets deleted from your local workstation together with the deletion of MakerTime.

Your rights

According to applicable law, you may have the right to:

  • Request access to your personal information (commonly known as a "data subject access request"). This enables you to receive a copy of the personal information we hold about you and to check that we are lawfully processing it.
  • Request correction of the personal information that we hold about you. This enables you to have any incomplete or inaccurate information we hold about you corrected.
  • Request erasure of your personal information. This enables you to ask us to delete or remove personal information where there is no good reason for us continuing to process it. You also have the right to ask us to delete or remove your personal information where you have exercised your right to object to processing (see below).
  • Object to processing of your personal information where we are relying on a legitimate interest (or those of a third party) and there is something about your particular situation which makes you want to object to processing on this ground. You also have the right to object where we are processing your personal information.
  • Request the restriction of processing of your personal information. This enables you to ask us to suspend the processing of personal information about you, for example if you want us to establish its accuracy or the reason for processing it.
  • You have the right to complain to a data protection authority about EPAM's collection and use of your personal information. For more information, please contact your local data protection authority.

If you want to review, verify, correct or request erasure of your personal information, object to the processing of your personal data, or request that we transfer a copy of your personal information to another party, please contact MakerTime@epam.com.

As the personal data will be stored locally you can contact us for technical instructions on how to access or handle your personal data in relation to MakerTime.
